Setiap kali pengguna smartphone memasang ulang aplikasi usai melakukan security wipe atau mengganti perangkat, setting aplikasi yang bersangkutan mesti diatur ulang agar sama dengan sebelumnya.

Nah, sebagaimana dirangkum dari Ubergizmo, dengan sistem operasi Android M yang diumumkan Google, kerepotan seperti itu nantinya tak perlu terjadi lagi.

Ini karena Android M memiliki kemampuan untuk melakukan backup data aplikasi ke layanan Google Drive. Pengaturan aplikasi pun secara otomatis akan dikembalikan begitu pengguna melakukan instalasi ulang.

Setiap aplikasi memiliki jatah kuota backup sebesar 25 MB. Fitur backup data berlaku universal dan akan langsung dijalankan untuk semua aplikasi yang terpasang di perangkat, sehingga developer tak perlu menulis ulang software atau menambah fungsi.

Backup data aplikasi akan dilakukan secara reguler setiap 24 jam. Developer bisa mengatur bagian-bagian data aplikasi mana saja yang ingin disimpan dalam Google drive.

Entah mengapa, fitur yang cukup berguna ini justru tak digarisbawahi oleh Google dalam konferensi Googe I/O, Kamis minggu lalu.

Android M sendiri kini masih berupa versi developer preview. Versi final dan sistem operasi mobile terbaru Google itu baru akan dirilis belakangan tahun 2015. Berganti perangkat Android pun bakal menjadi lebih mudah dengan fitur App Data Backup.
